THE PROP-OR-PORTRAIT CAMERA

Photo booths have become increasingly popular at wedding receptions, birthday parties, and corporate events in the last few years. For some reason it's impossible to resist the lure of taking a picture with friends while sporting an oversized sombrero or fake mustache. I certainly enjoy the experience, but as a photographer I am always disappointed in the size and quality of the print, and how difficult it is to share the images on social media. There are also times when I have found myself wanting to take a formal portrait at an event with friends and family, but have to rely on others to take a snapshot rather than make a proper portrait.

The Prop-or-Portrait Camera is an open air photo booth that captures high resolution images that are instantly viewed on a 21.5 inch Mac display on the back of the device. It is designed to look like a large format camera, which immediately captures people's attention and inspires their imaginations.

Using a wireless trigger, guests can make their own selfies while others review the images as they wait their turn. A studio strobe with a soft box is used to illuminate the subjects in the best possible light against a beautiful backdrop. The images are displayed the following day on an online gallery where guests can download the files free of charge or share them on social media. The clients receive their own password protected link to the image gallery to download all files to their computer. Finally, the end result is a photo booth pic you can frame.
